To date, the University of Wisconsin–Madison has won 29 NCAA national championships:

- Men's cross country: 1982, 1983, 1985, 1988, 2005, 2011
- Women's cross country: 1984, 1985
- Men's ice hockey: 1973, 1977, 1981, 1983, 1990, 2006
- Women's ice hockey: 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011
- Men's indoor track & field: 2007
- Men's soccer: 1995
The men's and women's rowing programs have earned 30 non-NCAA national titles since 1900.
