Winchester Cathedral - Public Access

Public Access

In common with many other Anglican cathedrals in the United Kingdom, an admission charge has been required for visitors to enter the cathedral since March 2006. Visitors may also request an annual pass for the same price as a single admission.

Famous quotes containing the words public and/or access:

It is because the public are a mass—inert, obtuse, and passive—that they need to be shaken up from time to time so that we can tell from their bear-like grunts where they are—and also where they stand. They are pretty harmless, in spite of their numbers, because they are fighting against intelligence.
    Alfred Jarry (1873–1907)

    Make thick my blood,
Stop up th’ access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of nature
    Shake my fell purpose.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
