Then on March 15, 1986, Aames married Maylo McCaslin, with whom he co-wrote the book Grace Is Enough. Aames and McCaslin had a daughter, Harleigh Jean Upton, who is now an actress, appearing in the series The Missy Files and The Public Life of Sissy Pike. Aames is credited with having written and directed both. Aames and McCaslin divorced in 2009.

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

The dialectic between change and continuity is a painful but deeply instructive one, in personal life as in the life of a people. To “see the light” too often has meant rejecting the treasures found in darkness.
    Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)

Art is a concrete and personal and rather childish thing after all—no matter what people do to graft it into science and make it sociological and psychological; it is no good at all unless it is let alone to be itself—a game of make-believe, or re-production, very exciting and delightful to people who have an ear for it or an eye for it.
    Willa Cather (1873–1947)

Mothers who are strong people, who can pursue a life of their own when it is time to let their children go, empower their children of either gender to feel free and whole. But weak women, women who feel and act like victims of something or other, may make their children feel responsible for taking care of them, and they can carry their children down with them.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)
