Famous quotes containing the words active, retirement and/or family:
“Women have acquired equal place to man in society, but the double standard has really never been relinquished; certainly not by men. Modern mans fear of passivity or of the active woman proves to be as eternal as modern womans struggle to come to terms with her femininity.”
—Peter Blos (20th century)
“Douglas. Now remains a sweet reversion
We may boldly spend, upon the hope
Of what is to come in.
A comfort of retirement lives in this.
Hotspur. A rendezvous, a home to fly unto.”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“Nobody has ever before asked the nuclear family to live all by itself in a box the way we do. With no relatives, no support, weve put it in an impossible situation.”
—Margaret Mead (19011978)
