Structures and Communities Named After Him
There is an elementary school in northern Markham named William Berczy Public School in commemoration for the man who founded the city. It has over 800 students in grades K-8. Also, in honour for this founder, the Markham government named one of its densely populated neighbourhoods after him, which is called the Berczy Village.

Famous quotes containing the words structures, communities and/or named:
“If there are people who feel that God wants them to change the structures of society, that is something between them and their God. We must serve him in whatever way we are called. I am called to help the individual; to love each poor person. Not to deal with institutions. I am in no position to judge.”
—Mother Teresa (b. 1910)
“I am convinced, that if all men were to live as simply as I then did, thieving and robbery would be unknown. These take place only in communities where some have got more than is sufficient while others have not enough.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Late in the afternoon, we rode through Brewster, so named after Elder Brewster, for fear he would be forgotten else. Who has not heard of Elder Brewster? Who knows who he was?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
