Asher received a star in Palm Springs' Walk of Stars in November 2003
Asher died from complications due to Alzheimer's disease at age 90 on July 16, 2012. At the time of his death, Asher resided in Palm Desert, California with his fourth wife, the former Meredith Coffin McMachen
