Community Involvement and Internship
Wildwood strongly encourages its students and faculty to reach out to the community around them. As a result, part of the curriculum of Wildwood includes working with local social service agencies, including St. Joseph Center and the Westside Children's Center. Middle and upper school students are required to participate in these activities during school hours for 3 hours a week.
In addition, juniors and seniors must participate in the internship program for five hours a week. As a result, students receive real world job training during school hours.
Upper school students also have an opportunity to go on International Community Involvement trips during spring break. Destinations have included Nepal, Vietnam, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Bulgaria.

Famous quotes containing the words community and/or involvement:
“The peace loving nations must make a concerted effort in opposition to those violations of treaties and those ignorings of humane instincts which today are creating a state of international anarchy and instability from which there is no escape through mere isolation or neutrality.... When an epidemic of physical disease starts to spread, the community approves and joins in a quarantine of the patients in order to protect the health of the community against the spread of the disease.”
—Franklin D. Roosevelt (18821945)
“Juggling produces both practical and psychological benefits.... A womans involvement in one role can enhance her functioning in another. Being a wife can make it easier to work outside the home. Being a mother can facilitate the activities and foster the skills of the efficient wife or of the effective worker. And employment outside the home can contribute in substantial, practical ways to how one works within the home, as a spouse and as a parent.”
—Faye J. Crosby (20th century)
