WGN America

WGN America is an American cable television channel based in Chicago, operating as a superstation feed of WGN-TV. Owned by Tribune Broadcasting, it is one of several flagship properties owned by the Tribune Company, which also owns Chicago area cable news channel Chicagoland Television (CLTV), radio station WGN (720 AM) and the Chicago Tribune.

It is the only remaining superstation in the United States to be distributed nationally through both cable and satellite television, since the October 2007 split of TBS from its former Atlanta local feed. WGN America is also one of four superstations owned by Tribune Company (KTLA/Los Angeles, KWGN/Denver and WPIX/New York City are distributed nationwide on Dish Network, and are regionally available on cable in the Western and Northeastern United States respectively, and throughout Canada on both cable and satellite).

Famous quotes containing the word america:

Only in America ... do these peasants, our mothers, get their hair dyed platinum at the age of sixty, and walk up and down Collins Avenue in Florida in pedalpushers and mink stoles—and with opinions on every subject under the sun. It isn’t their fault they were given a gift like speech—look, if cows could talk, they would say things just as idiotic.
    Philip Roth (b. 1933)
