Overview

The Westside is one of the most affluent areas in both the city of Los Angeles and the Greater Los Angeles area. The area is home to some of the wealthiest neighborhoods of Los Angeles such as Bel Air, Pacific Palisades and Venice, as well as cities such as Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. Additionally, most of the city's Millionaire's Miles are found on the Westside.

The majority of the movie industry's operation in the United States is no longer based in Hollywood, but rather in the Westside. As a result, the bulk of the metropolitan region's major production corporations, talent agencies and entertainment law firms are based in this area.

Also, the Westside is home to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), located in the Westwood neighborhood, which itself is one of the city's largest business districts outside of Downtown Los Angeles.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the principal airport of the Greater Los Angeles area, is located in the southern Westside neighborhood of Westchester and is among of the busiest airports in the world in terms of passenger traffic and cargo handled.
