Behavior
Young Western Skinks have a bright blue tail with color that fades with age. If seized by a predator its tail is deliberately cast and wriggles violently attracting attention while the lizard may escape. The tail will grow back with time but is often darker in color and misshapen. It will play dead, but this behavior is rarely seen.

Famous quotes containing the word behavior:
“Reading about ethics is about as likely to improve ones behavior as reading about sports is to make one into an athlete.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
“No matter how calmly you try to referee, parenting will eventually produce bizarre behavior, and Im not talking about the kids. Their behavior is always normal.”
—Bill Cosby (b. 1937)
“To be told that our childs behavior is normal offers little solace when our feelings are badly hurt, or when we worry that his actions are harmful at the moment or may be injurious to his future. It does not help me as a parent nor lessen my worries when my child drives carelessly, even dangerously, if I am told that this is normal behavior for children of his age. Id much prefer him to deviate from the norm and be a cautious driver!”
—Bruno Bettelheim (20th century)
