The Western Design Center (WDC), located in Mesa, Arizona, USA, is a company developing and manufacturing MOS 65xx-based microprocessors, microcontrollers (µCs), and related support devices. WDC was founded in 1978 by co-holder of the MOS Technology 6502 patent, Bill Mensch, himself a former MOS Technology employee.
In addition to the discrete devices, WDC offers device designs in the form of IP cores to be used inside other chips (such as ASICs), and provides ASIC and embedded systems consulting services revolving around their processor designs. WDC also produces C compilers, assembler/linker packages, simulators, development/evaluation boards, and in-circuit emulators for their processors.
Famous quotes containing the words western, design and/or center:
“The true use of Shakespeare or of Cervantes, of Homer or of Dante, of Chaucer or of Rabelais, is to augment ones own growing inner self.... The minds dialogue with itself is not primarily a social reality. All that the Western Canon can bring one is the proper use of ones own solitude, that solitude whose final form is ones confrontation with ones own mortality.”
—Harold Bloom (b. 1930)
“A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible. There are no prima donnas in engineering.”
—Freeman Dyson (b. 1923)
“New York is what Paris was in the twenties ... the center of the art world. And we want to be in the center. Its the greatest place on earth.... Ive got a lot of friends here and I even brought my own cash.”
—John Lennon (19401980)
