At Peak Hours
At Bank, when a driver has stopped the train and disembarked the passengers, he has to let another driver from a previous train take over. This is known as stepping back, and happens because drivers do not have enough time to change ends. A Rear Cab Clear plunger has been installed on the track-side of the platform barrier so that the driver can confirm that he is clear of the cab and the "step-back" driver can depart when the signal clears.

Famous quotes containing the words peak and/or hours:
“In all things I would have the island of a man inviolate. Let us sit apart as the gods, talking from peak to peak all round Olympus. No degree of affection need invade this religion.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“Writing a novel is not merely going on a shopping expedition across the border to an unreal land: it is hours and years spent in the factories, the streets, the cathedrals of the imagination.”
—Janet Frame (b. 1924)
