War Admiral - in Popular Culture

In Popular Culture

The 2003 feature film Seabiscuit features the race between the two horses Seabiscuit and War Admiral. However, the film inaccurately portrays War Admiral at 18 hands (72 in, or 183 cm). In fact, War Admiral and Seabiscuit were about the same size with Seabiscuit standing at 15.2 hands and outweighing War Admiral 1,040 to 960 lb (470 to 440 kg)

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:

A popular Government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy.
    James Madison (1751–1836)

The problem of culture is seldom grasped correctly. The goal of a culture is not the greatest possible happiness of a people, nor is it the unhindered development of all their talents; instead, culture shows itself in the correct proportion of these developments. Its aim points beyond earthly happiness: the production of great works is the aim of culture.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
