There is a lot of mystery surrounding the death of Bekhterev. It is known for certain that Bekhterev died in 1927, but controversy exists surrounding his death. When Joseph Stalin asked Bekhterev to recover his arm, Bekhterev diagnosed Stalin with "a paranoiac with a withered arm". Two days later, Bekhterev suddenly died, causing speculation that he was poisoned by Stalin as revenge for the diagnosis.
“ | Bekhterev’s regular activities in the autumn and winter months of 1927, and even up to the last days of his life, showed no indications of worsening health despite the scientist’s more than 70 years of age. | ” |
