Famous quotes containing the words virus, species and/or definition:

Think of the earth as a living organism that is being attacked by billions of bacteria whose numbers double every forty years. Either the host dies, or the virus dies, or both die.
    Gore Vidal (b. 1925)

There are acacias, a graceful species amusingly devitalized by sentimentality, this kind drooping its leaves with the grace of a young widow bowed in controllable grief, this one obscuring them with a smooth silver as of placid tears. Rebecca West (1892–1983)

I’m beginning to think that the proper definition of “Man” is “an animal that writes letters.”
Lewis Carroll [Charles Lutwidge Dodgson] (1832–1898)
