Virtual Patient Data Standards
The MedBiquitous consortium established a working group in 2005 to create a free and open data standard for expressing and exchanging virtual patients between different authoring and delivery systems. This was in part to address the problem of exchanging and reusing virtual patients and in part to encourage and support easier and wider use of virtual patients in general.
This standard has been very successful and is now widely adopted, e.g. in major projects like eViP.
In 2010, this standard attained status as an ANSI standard. American_National_Standards_Institute

Famous quotes containing the words virtual, patient, data and/or standards:
“Neither dead nor alive, the hostage is suspended by an incalculable outcome. It is not his destiny that awaits for him, nor his own death, but anonymous chance, which can only seem to him something absolutely arbitrary.... He is in a state of radical emergency, of virtual extermination.”
—Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
“For who would bare the whips and scorns of time,
Thoppressors wrong, the proud mans contumely,
The pangs of disprized love, the laws delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of thunworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin?”
—William Shakespeare (15641616)
“This city is neither a jungle nor the moon.... In long shot: a cosmic smudge, a conglomerate of bleeding energies. Close up, it is a fairly legible printed circuit, a transistorized labyrinth of beastly tracks, a data bank for asthmatic voice-prints.”
—Susan Sontag (b. 1933)
“Barbarism is the absence of standards to which appeal can be made.”
—José Ortega Y Gasset (18831955)
