The Virgin Verve is a free, weekly alternative newspaper distributed in St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Virgin Verve published its last weekly issue on February 3, 2006. It is currently in the middle of a reorganisation, and plans to publish on a monthly format.
The Virgin Verve focuses on bars and entertainment without attempting to present a single piece of serious "news." A satirical newspaper taking its inspiration from free newspapers like The Onion. It has become a magnet for controversy in the notoriously intolerant Virgin Islands.
It has been the target of several campaigns attempting to force the publishers to stop printing. Since it is a free newspaper with only advertising as a source of revenue, the targets of these campaigns have been the advertisers. They have been harassed in various ways with varying degrees of success.

Famous quotes containing the word virgin:
“Our own country furnishes antiquities as ancient and durable, and as useful, as any; rocks at least as well covered with lichens, and a soil which, if it is virgin, is but virgin mould, the very dust of nature. What if we cannot read Rome or Greece, Etruria or Carthage, or Egypt or Babylon, on these; are our cliffs bare?”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
