U-Bahn Network
There are currently five U-Bahn lines (U1-U4 and U6) and 101 stations, including nine interchanges. The network's total length is 75 km (46.6 mi) with 101 stations. Further extensions of the Vienna U-Bahn have been decided until 2019. Upon completion, there will be a total network of 90 km (55.9 mi) and 116 stations. Some plans have been prepared to deal with the period beyond, although remain unfunded.
U-Bahn services run between 5 am and around 1 am at intervals between two and five minutes during the day and up to eight after 8 pm. Since 4 September 2010, there has been a 24-hour service operating at a 15 minute interval on Fridays, Saturdays and on Sundays if followed by a public holiday. The 24-hour U-Bahn is supplemented on these nights by Vienna NightLine bus services.

Famous quotes containing the word network:
“A culture may be conceived as a network of beliefs and purposes in which any string in the net pulls and is pulled by the others, thus perpetually changing the configuration of the whole. If the cultural element called morals takes on a new shape, we must ask what other strings have pulled it out of line. It cannot be one solitary string, nor even the strings nearby, for the network is three-dimensional at least.”
—Jacques Barzun (b. 1907)
