Professional Career
The Detroit Pistons selected Macklin as the 52nd overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. In March 2012, he was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League. He averaged 15 points and 14 rebounds during his stint of ten games with the D-League team, and returned to the Pistons in April 2012.
In July 2012, the Pistons declined to make Macklin a qualifying offer, which makes him an unrestricted free agent, signable by any team.
Macklin signed with Royal Halı Gaziantep of the Turkish Basketball League in August 2012. He was released by the team in November 2012.
On December 18, 2012, Macklin was acquired by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBA D-League.

Famous quotes containing the words professional and/or career:
“Virtue and vice suppose the freedom to choose between good and evil; but what can be the morals of a woman who is not even in possession of herself, who has nothing of her own, and who all her life has been trained to extricate herself from the arbitrary by ruse, from constraint by using her charms?... As long as she is subject to mans yoke or to prejudice, as long as she receives no professional education, as long as she is deprived of her civil rights, there can be no moral law for her!”
—Flora Tristan (18031844)
“The 19-year-old Diana ... decided to make her career that of wife. Today that can be a very, very iffy line of work.... And what sometimes happens to the women who pursue it is the best argument imaginable for teaching girls that they should always be able to take care of themselves.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
