For Bulgarians and Poles born in the early 1970s to early 1980s, "Verano Azul" introduced certain serious teen themes that had never been seen on TV under the socialist system, such as the hippie lifestyle, parental divorce, and the death of close friends, among others. Famous quotes containing the words cultural and/or significance:
“A culture may be conceived as a network of beliefs and purposes in which any string in the net pulls and is pulled by the others, thus perpetually changing the configuration of the whole. If the cultural element called morals takes on a new shape, we must ask what other strings have pulled it out of line. It cannot be one solitary string, nor even the strings nearby, for the network is three-dimensional at least.”
—Jacques Barzun (b. 1907)
“I am not afraid that I shall exaggerate the value and significance of life, but that I shall not be up to the occasion which it is.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
