Velvet Tone Records

Velvet Tone Records was a United States based record label, active from 1925 through 1932. It was produced by Columbia Records and contained material identical to that of Columbia's two other low price labels, Harmony Records and Diva Records.

Audio fidelity is about average for the era (though most issues were still made by the then out-dated acoustic recording process), with pressings in above average quality shellac. A clean copy plays as well as any record of the era.

Famous quotes containing the words velvet, tone and/or records:

Such is the brutalization of commercial ethics in this country that no one can feel anything more delicate than the velvet touch of a soft buck.
    Raymond Chandler (1888–1959)

Our medieval historians who prefer to rely as much as possible on official documents because the chronicles are unreliable, fall thereby into an occasionally dangerous error. The documents tell us little about the difference in tone which separates us from those times; they let us forget the fervent pathos of medieval life.
    Johan Huizinga (1872–1945)

My confessions are shameless. I confess, but do not repent. The fact is, my confessions are prompted, not by ethical motives, but intellectual. The confessions are to me the interesting records of a self-investigator.
    W.N.P. Barbellion (1889–1919)
