Vellus Hair - Production

Production

Vellus hair replaces lanugo hair on a human fetus at 36 to 40 weeks of gestation. The growth cycle of vellus hair is different from the growth cycle of terminal hair. At puberty, the androgen hormone causes much of the vellus hair to turn into terminal hair and stimulates the growth of new hair in the armpit and the pubic area. In men, this change in vellus hair occurs on the face and the body.

Vellus hair can also grow in single or in small patches that usually grow 2-4cm and like to persist throughout a lifetime. This kind of hair growth is associated with genes and usually not harmful.

Famous quotes containing the word production:

The production of obscurity in Paris compares to the production of motor cars in Detroit in the great period of American industry.
    Ernest Gellner (b. 1925)

An art whose limits depend on a moving image, mass audience, and industrial production is bound to differ from an art whose limits depend on language, a limited audience, and individual creation. In short, the filmed novel, in spite of certain resemblances, will inevitably become a different artistic entity from the novel on which it is based.
George Bluestone, U.S. educator, critic. “The Limits of the Novel and the Limits of the Film,” Novels Into Film, Johns Hopkins Press (1957)

I really know nothing more criminal, more mean, and more ridiculous than lying. It is the production either of malice, cowardice, or vanity; and generally misses of its aim in every one of these views; for lies are always detected, sooner or later.
Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)
