Home-made Juice
See also: JuicingMaking vegetable juice at home is an alternative to buying commercial juices, and may be beneficial for supplementing diets low in vegetables and fruits. Special vegetable juicers are recommended for blending vegetables, as they employ either a slow-geared grinding mechanism or a unit powered by centrifugal force. Compared to a higher speed blender or fruit juicer, the slower speed protects the vegetables from oxidation and heat (from friction), which reduces nutrient breakdown.

Famous quotes containing the words home-made and/or juice:
“The post-office appeared a singularly domestic institution here. Ever and anon the stage stopped before some low shop or dwelling, and a wheelwright or shoemaker appeared in his shirt- sleeves and leather apron, with spectacles newly donned, holding up Uncle Sams bag, as if it were a slice of home-made cake, for the travelers, while he retailed some piece of gossip to the driver, really as indifferent to the presence of the former as if they were so much baggage.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“When you got to the table you couldnt go right to eating, but you had to wait for the widow to tuck down her head and grumble a little over the victuals, though there warnt really anything the matter with them. That is, nothing only everything was cooked by itself. In a barrel of odds and ends it is different; things get mixed up, and the juice kind of swaps around, and the things go better.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
