The Cavalier was used in the British Touring Car Championship from 1990 - 1995. The Cavalier was competitive during the BTCC but the amount of competition and bad luck got the better of the Cavalier for most of the years especially for John Cleland who had the chance for the 1991 and 1992 championship coming away with a second in 1991 and a 3rd in 1992. 1993 and 1994 saw Cleland finish 4th in the championship in both years however the Cavalier finally made the breakthrough in 1995 with John Cleland winning the championship with the new aero packages for 1995. The Cavalier was replaced by the Vectra in 1996.
