Avatar Press
One of the most prolific users of variant covers in the modern age is Avatar Press - it is the norm for their comic books (especially first issues) to ship with a myriad of alternative covers. The first issue of the Stargate Atlantis: Wraithfall mini-series, for example, shipped with six variant edition covers, and Lady Death: Blacklands #1/2 with eight.

Famous quotes containing the word press:
“Every expansion of government in business means that government in order to protect itself from the political consequences of its errors and wrongs is driven irresistibly without peace to greater and greater control of the nation’s press and platform. Free speech does not live many hours after free industry and free commerce die.”
—Herbert Hoover (1874–1964)
