Member of Legislative Assembly
Its MLA is Jenny Kwan, a former Vancouver City Councillor. She was first elected to the legislature in 1996. She represents the British Columbia New Democratic Party. Kwan became the first Chinese-Canadian cabinet minister in B.C. history when she was appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs in February 1998. She has also been Minister of Women's Equality and Minister of Community Development, Cooperatives and Volunteers.
