Vacuum Forming - Common Problems

Common Problems

There are some problems encountered in the vacuum forming process. Absorbed moisture can expand, forming bubbles within the plastic's inner layers. This can be solved by drying the plastic for an extended period at high but sub-melting temperature. Webs can form around the mold, which is due to overheating the plastic and so must be carefully monitored. Webbing can also occur when a mold is too large or parts of the mold are too close together. Finally, objects that are formed often stick to the mold, which is remedied by using an angle of three degrees or more in the mold.

Famous quotes containing the words common and/or problems:

    Repentance keeps my heart impure;
    But what am I that dare
    Fancy that I can
    Better conduct myself or have more
    Sense than a common man?
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    The problems of society will also be the problems of the predominant language of that society. It is the carrier of its perceptions, its attitudes, and its goals, for through it, the speakers absorb entrenched attitudes. The guilt of English then must be recognized and appreciated before its continued use can be advocated.
    Njabulo Ndebele (b. 1948)
