Vaccines for the New Millennium Act was a bill introduced by Senator John Kerry (D-MA) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in the 107th Congress in 2001. The bill would have provided tax credits to private sector companies working on vaccines for some of the world's most deadly infectious agents. The tax credits took the form of a 30 percent credit on qualified research and development expenditures related to a set of diseases including HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria among others.
Famous quotes containing the words millennium and/or act:
“At the end of one millennium and nine centuries of Christianity, it remains an unshakable assumption of the law in all Christian countries and of the moral judgment of Christians everywhere that if a man and a woman, entering a room together, close the door behind them, the man will come out sadder and the woman wiser.”
—H.L. (Henry Lewis)
“The moment the very name of Ireland is mentioned, the English seem to bid adieu to common feeling, common prudence, and common sense, and to act with the barbarity of tyrants, and the fatuity of idiots.”
—Sydney Smith (17711845)
