Famous quotes containing the words world and/or war:

    Lord, I do fear
    Thou’st made the world too beautiful this year;
    My soul is all but out of me,—let fall
    No burning leaf; prithee, let no bird call.
    Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950)

    Let the erring sisters depart in peace; the idea of getting up a civil war to compel the weaker States to remain in the Union appears to us horrible to the last degree.
    Jane Grey Swisshelm (1815–1884)
