Route Description
U.S. 96 begins at SH 87 in Port Arthur, at a southern terminus it also shares with U.S. 69 and U.S. 287. The three highways head in a northwest direction toward Beaumont. In Beaumont, the three highways briefly merge with I-10, but soon split from the interstate continuing northwest. In Lumberton, U.S. 96 separates from U.S. 287 and U.S. 69, and heads northeast.
