Uri Party - Party Platform and Policy Direction

Party Platform and Policy Direction

Policywise, the Uri Party emphasized increased spending on social services for the low-income population while de-emphasizing economic growth. It was conciliatory towards North Korea while moving away from the traditional military alliance with the U.S. and Japan. Indeed, even after the testing of a nuclear bomb by North Korea, the Uri Party members have called for continued unconditional aid to North Korea, triggering heavy criticism and charges of its harboring Communist sympathizers. The Uri Party placed most of the blame for the crisis on the hard-line policies of the United States.

Famous quotes containing the words party, platform, policy and/or direction:

Though the Jazz Age continued it became less and less an affair of youth. The sequel was like a children’s party taken over by the elders.
    F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896–1940)

I have never yet spoken from a public platform about women in industry that someone has not said, “But things are far better than they used to be.” I confess to impatience with persons who are satisfied with a dangerously slow tempo of progress for half of society in an age which requires a much faster tempo than in the days that “used to be.” Let us use what might be instead of what has been as our yardstick!
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

’Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world.
    George Washington (1732–1799)

It is not easy to construct by mere scientific synthesis a foolproof system which will lead our children in a desired direction and avoid an undesirable one. Obviously, good can come only from a continuing interplay between that which we, as students, are gradually learning and that which we believe in, as people.
    Erik H. Erikson (20th century)
