Ural Federal District

Ural Federal District (Russian: Ура́льский федера́льный о́круг, Uralsky federalny okrug) is one of the eight federal districts of Russia. The district was established on May 13, 2000 by a decree of the President of Russia. The district is mostly located in the geographical region of Ural, but also includes minor parts of the Volga Region. It is located at the border of the European and Asian parts of Russia, and its extent is different from that of the Ural economic region. The administrative center of the district is Yekaterinburg.
