Clubs

Upland High School provides a variety of different clubs and organized groups for the student body. Chartered at the beginning of each year, clubs including Global Aid, Interact Club, FBLA-PBL, Hacky Sack club(currently training for regionals under the direction of Austin Gane and a man only referred to as Coach), French club, and many others. The school also has chapters of Key Club, California Scholarship Federation, and National Honor Society (Upland's chapter being notable for its exclusive nature, student autonomy, and M.A.G.I.C., a Charity Quidditch Tournament in 2012 which raised $1000 for local charity Megan's Wings.)

Famous quotes containing the word clubs:

Remember that the peer group is important to young adolescents, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Parents are often just as important, however. Don’t give up on the idea that you can make a difference.
—The Lions Clubs International and the Quest Nation. The Surprising Years, I, ch.5 (1985)

The true reformer does not want time, nor money, nor coöperation, nor advice. What is time but the stuff delay is made of? And depend upon it, our virtue will not live on the interest of our money. He expects no income, but outgoes; so soon as we begin to count the cost, the cost begins. And as for advice, the information floating in the atmosphere of society is as evanescent and unserviceable to him as gossamer for clubs of Hercules.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

I had the idea that there were two worlds. There was a real world as I called it, a world of wars and boxing clubs and children’s homes on back streets, and this real world was a world where orphans burned orphans.... I liked the other world in which almost everyone lived. The imaginary world.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
