Cover Versions
Bette Midler recorded the song for her live album "Live at Last" (1977)
The Nylons covered "Up the Ladder to the Roof" a capella in a 1982 recording, which was featured in the 1987 film Made in Heaven. In 1997, the female leads of the Fox Network sitcom Living Single (Queen Latifah, Erika Alexander, Kim Fields, and Kim Coles) performed the song in an episode during a fantasy sequence depicting them as a Supremes-esque girl group called the Flavorettes.
This song is also featured in the 2010 Everyday Rapture, starring Sherie Rene Scott. In the show, the song is sung by Scott and two backup singer characters known as the Mennonettes.
