Influence On Business Enterprise

A number of companies have been founded by staff and graduates. Their names were featured in the new laboratory entrance in 2012. Some cited examples of successful companies are ARM, Autonomy, Aveva, CSR and Domino. One common factor they share is that key staff and/or founder members are "drenched in university training and research". Famous quotes containing the words influence on, influence, business and/or enterprise:

Important as fathers are, their influence on children shouldn’t be exaggerated just because they were ignored so long. There is no evidence that there is something especially good about fathers as caretakers. There are no areas where it can be said that fathers must do certain things in order to achieve certain outcomes in children. The same goes for mothers.
    Michael Lamb (late–20th century)

Books, the oldest and the best, stand naturally and rightfully on the shelves of every cottage. They have no cause of their own to plead, but while they enlighten and sustain the reader his common sense will not refuse them. Their authors are a natural and irresistible aristocracy in every society, and, more than kings or emperors, exert an influence on mankind.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    all the arts lose virtue
    Against the essential reality
Of creatures going about their business among the equally
    Earnest elements of nature.
    Robinson Jeffers (1887–1962)

    In enterprise of martial kind,
    When there was any fighting,
He led his regiment from behind—
    He found it less exciting.
    Sir William Schwenck Gilbert (1836–1911)
