University Hospital of North Staffordshire - Development

Development

In 2003 the hospital was chosen for a £350-million Private Finance Initiative development, and work on major new facilities is now underway. Most of the wards and Accident & Emergancy department will be moved from the Royal Infirmary site across to the new site over the course of 2012, after which the former site will be redeveloped for much needed housing in this area.

From April 2012 all A&E departments were on the new site, together with new Maternity and Oncology units.

Famous quotes containing the word development:

For decades child development experts have erroneously directed parents to sing with one voice, a unison chorus of values, politics, disciplinary and loving styles. But duets have greater harmonic possibilities and are more interesting to listen to, so long as cacophony or dissonance remains at acceptable levels.
    Kyle D. Pruett (20th century)

If you complain of people being shot down in the streets, of the absence of communication or social responsibility, of the rise of everyday violence which people have become accustomed to, and the dehumanization of feelings, then the ultimate development on an organized social level is the concentration camp.... The concentration camp is the final expression of human separateness and its ultimate consequence. It is organized abandonment.
    Arthur Miller (b. 1915)

As a final instance of the force of limitations in the development of concentration, I must mention that beautiful creature, Helen Keller, whom I have known for these many years. I am filled with wonder of her knowledge, acquired because shut out from all distraction. If I could have been deaf, dumb, and blind I also might have arrived at something.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)
