United We Stand America

United We Stand America was the name selected by Texas businessman H. Ross Perot for his citizen action organization after his 1992 independent political campaign for President of the United States. Perot's 19% showing in the 1992 election was sufficient to entitle him to federal matching funds for the 1996 campaign. After the campaign, Perot announced, on January 11, 1993, the formation of a non-profit watchdog organization named United We Stand America.

Famous quotes containing the words united, stand and/or america:

... the yearly expenses of the existing religious system ... exceed in these United States twenty millions of dollars. Twenty millions! For teaching what? Things unseen and causes unknown!... Twenty millions would more than suffice to make us wise; and alas! do they not more than suffice to make us foolish?
    Frances Wright (1795–1852)

All parents occasionally have ambivalent feelings toward their children. We love our kids, but there are times when we don’t really like them, or at least we can’t stand what our children are doing. But most of us keep those feelings to ourselves, as if it’s dirty little secret. It doesn’t fit in with our images of what we should do and feel as parents.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

‘Society’ in America means all the honest, kindly-mannered, pleasant- voiced women, and all the good, brave, unassuming men, between the Atlantic and the Pacific. Each of these has a free pass in every city and village, ‘good for this generation only,’ and it depends on each to make use of this pass or not as it may happen to suit his or her fancy.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)
