- The USASA enjoyed its greatest success when Cal FC (California, Region IV) defeated the Portland Timbers 1-0 in extra time in the third round of the 2012 US Open Cup. They became the first US Adult Soccer Association team to score against a Major League Soccer opponent, and the first to advance without penalty kicks.
- Dallas Roma (Texas, Region III) defeated Chivas USA by penalty kick shootout in the third round of the 2006 US Open Cup. The amateur team became the first USASA team to defeat a Major League Soccer side. They would later lose to the Los Angeles Galaxy in the fourth round.
