History
UKIB was formed in 1981 when the Association of Independent Radio Contractors (AIRC) was admitted as an active member of the EBU. Then it replaced IBA/ITCA as the second British EBU member. ITCA had been admitted as a full active EBU member, together with the Independent Television Authority (ITA) in 1959. AIRC became Commercial Radio Companies' Association (CRCA) in 1996. CRCA cancelled its EBU membership by the end of 2002.

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“The history of any nation follows an undulatory course. In the trough of the wave we find more or less complete anarchy; but the crest is not more or less complete Utopia, but only, at best, a tolerably humane, partially free and fairly just society that invariably carries within itself the seeds of its own decadence.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
“The history of American politics is littered with bodies of people who took so pure a position that they had no clout at all.”
—Ben C. Bradlee (b. 1921)
“We aspire to be something more than stupid and timid chattels, pretending to read history and our Bibles, but desecrating every house and every day we breathe in.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
