Future Possiblities
While the future of the Union Station will mostly involve the museums contained therein, there still exists the possiblity of resumed passenger rail service. As recently as 2009 Amtrak was involved in feasiblity studies regarding the restoration of some of its previously discontinued routes, including the Pioneer. As part of the study, four routes for the Pioneer were considered. While two of the proposed routes would bypass Salt Lake City, all four would be routed through Ogden and, presumeably, a stop at the Union Station once again.

Famous quotes containing the word future:
“Given for one instant an intelligence which could comprehend all the forces by which nature is animated and the respective positions of the beings which compose it, if moreover this intelligence were vast enough to submit these data to analysis, it would embrace in the same formula both the movements of the largest bodies in the universe and those of the lightest atom; to it nothing would be uncertain, and the future as the past would be present to its eyes.”
—Pierre Simon De Laplace (17491827)
