Healthcare in Switzerland mandates participation in a national healthcare system for all residents. Public hospitals are subsidized, but there are also private hospitals that private additional services, such as elective services.
Also, in addition to a national universal insurance fund, optional complementary and supplementary private insurance funds are available for purchase.
