Ecological Interpretation

Tu Bishvat is considered by secular Israeli Jews and organizations to be the Jewish equivalent of Arbor Day, and it is often referred to by that name in international media. Ecological organizations in Israel and the diaspora have adopted the holiday to further environmental-awareness programs. On Israeli kibbutzim, Tu Bishvat is celebrated as an agricultural holiday.

Famous quotes containing the word ecological:

The question that will decide our destiny is not whether we shall expand into space. It is: shall we be one species or a million? A million species will not exhaust the ecological niches that are awaiting the arrival of intelligence.
    Freeman Dyson (b. 1923)
