Famous quotes containing the words screaming, eagle and/or waves:

My characters never die screaming in rage. They attempt to pull themselves back together and go on. And that’s basically a conservative view of life.
    Jane Smiley (b. 1949)

You will see Coleridge—he who sits obscure
In the exceeding lustre and the pure
    Intense irradiation of a mind,
Which, with its own internal lightning blind,
Flags wearily through darkness and despair—
A cloud-encircled meteor of the air,
A hooded eagle among blinking owls.
    Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)

And the waves sing because they are moving.
And the waves sing above a cemetery of waters.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
