Early Life
Trevor Horn grew up in Houghton-le-Spring, part of the municipality of Sunderland, England. His parents, John and Elizabeth, were from Hetton-le-Hole, which is near Sunderland. His father worked as an engineer, with technology related to milk production as his specialty. Trevor has two sisters, Janet and Marjorie, and a brother, Ken. Both sisters eventually emigrated to Canada.
Trevor became a bass player at school and was a member of a youth orchestra at Johnston Grammar playing in a selection of school bands after being inspired by his father who played double bass with the Joe Clark Band. After leaving school Trevor moved to Leicester and began working as a professional musician performing in the local ballrooms while building a home studio. He later became a musical director & record producer, starting out producing jingles and unsuccessful records including work with some punk bands.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or life:
“The conviction that the best way to prepare children for a harsh, rapidly changing world is to introduce formal instruction at an early age is wrong. There is simply no evidence to support it, and considerable evidence against it. Starting children early academically has not worked in the past and is not working now.”
—David Elkind (20th century)
“Half life is over now,
And I meet full face on dark mornings
The bestial visor, bent in
By the blows of what happened to happen.
What does it prove? Sod all.”
—Philip Larkin (19221986)
