Frieze Fair (2011)
On 6 October 2011 Emin opened a site-specific exhibition at Fitzroy Square. The title is taken from her novel which has served as a catalyst for a series of new works, created for a neoclassical house designed by Robert Adam in 1794. The exhibition also featured a series of embroidered texts and hand-woven tapestries continue Emin’s interest in the domestic and handcrafted tradition.
On the afternoon of 15 October graffiti artist RSH poured red paint on the street and pavement outside the Gregorian building at 6 Fitzroy Square as a statement about the false nature of Emin's art work.

Famous quotes containing the words frieze and/or fair:
“And the serial continues:
Pain, expiation, delight, more pain,
A frieze that lengthens continually, in the lucky way
Friezes do, and no plot is produced,
Nothing you could hang an identifying question on.”
—John Ashbery (b. 1927)
“If the contemplation, even of inanimate beauty, is so delightful; if it ravishes the senses, even when the fair form is foreign to us: What must be the effects of moral beauty? And what influence must it have, when it embellishes our own mind, and is the result of our own reflection and industry?”
—David Hume (17111776)
