The Thompson River is the largest tributary of the Fraser River, flowing through the south-central portion of British Columbia, Canada. The Thompson River has two main branches called the South Thompson and the North Thompson. The river was named by Fraser River explorer, Simon Fraser, in honour of his friend, Columbia Basin explorer David Thompson.
Famous quotes containing the words thompson and/or river:
“Cry,clinging Heaven by the hems;
And lo, Christ walking on the water
Not of Gennesareth, but Thames!”
—Francis Thompson (18591907)
“Ask me no more: thy fate and mine are sealed;
I strove against the stream and all in vain;
Let the great river take me to the main.
No more, dear love, for at a touch I yield;
Ask me no more.”
—Alfred Tennyson (18091892)
