Famous quotes containing the words academic, expenses, financial and/or aid:
“The 1990s, after the reign of terror of academic vandalism, will be a decade of restoration: restoration of meaning, value, beauty, pleasure, and emotion to art and restoration of art to its audience.”
—Camille Paglia (b. 1947)
“Good government cannot be found on the bargain-counter. We have seen samples of bargain-counter government in the past when low tax rates were secured by increasing the bonded debt for current expenses or refusing to keep our institutions up to the standard in repairs, extensions, equipment, and accommodations. I refuse, and the Republican Party refuses, to endorse that method of sham and shoddy economy.”
—Calvin Coolidge (18721933)
“The woman who does her job for society inside the four walls of her home must not be considered by her husband or anyone else an economic dependent, reaching out her hands in mendicant fashion for financial help.”
—Mary Barnett Gilson (1877?)
“Men, forever tempted to lift the veil of the futurewith the aid of computers or horoscopes or the intestines of sacrificial animalshave a worse record to show in these sciences than in almost any scientific endeavor.”
—Hannah Arendt (19061975)
