Famous quotes containing the words syrian, air and/or force:
“If in that Syrian garden, ages slain,
You sleep, and know not you are dead in vain,
Nor even in dreams behold how dark and bright
Ascends in smoke and fire by day and night
The hate you died to quench and could but fan,
Sleep well and see no morning, son of man.”
—A.E. (Alfred Edward)
“Mothers of America
let your kids go to the movies!
get them out of the house so they won’t know what you’re up to
it’s true that fresh air is good for the body
but what about the soul
that grows in darkness, embossed by silvery images”
—Frank O’Hara (1926–1966)
“Teach us to live our lives with purpose and with power
for visions of a better world and for decision’s hour;
To choose the way of life, reject the way of death,
until the radiant force of God fills mind and strength and breath.”
—Walter J. Mathams (19th–20th centuries)
