Famous quotes containing the words state street, state, street and/or corporation:

Though seen but once, it helps to wash out State Street and the engine’s soot.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is to be lamented that the principle of national has had very little nourishment in our country, and, instead, has given place to sectional or state partialities. Catherine E. Beecher (1800–1878)

The skyscraper establishes the block, the block creates the street, the street offers itself to man.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)

It is truly enough said that a corporation has no conscience; but a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscience.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
