Stacey Augmon - NBA Career

NBA Career

Augmon was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks with the ninth pick of the 1991 NBA Draft. Upon Augmon being chosen, Bill Walton famously said "Russell begat Kareem, Kareem begat Magic, and so Magic has begat the Plastic Man." He was the first player in the top ten draft picks to work out a deal, a 5-year contract worth between 6.5 and 7 million dollars. Augmon has played for the Hawks, the Detroit Pistons, the Portland Trail Blazers, the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets, and the Magic. He holds a scoring average of 8.0 points per game throughout his career.

The Magic decided not to re-sign Augmon for the 2006-07 NBA season, making him an unrestricted free agent. On October 3, 2007, the Denver Nuggets announced the signing of the 15-year veteran, but he was later waived on the 24th. One month and three days later, Denver re-hired Augmon, this time as a player development coach.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

A black boxer’s career is the perfect metaphor for the career of a black male. Every day is like being in the gym, sparring with impersonal opponents as one faces the rudeness and hostility that a black male must confront in the United States, where he is the object of both fear and fascination.
    Ishmael Reed (b. 1938)
